Help Me Pick A Monitor :)

I am looking for a flat-screen 19 inch CRT. I do not want overpriced Sony, but I am torn between Shadowmask and AG. I think Shadowmask will be better for what I do (lots of text, rarely do I use graphics except for playing games during breaks). Which of these would you recommend? I have pretty much narrowed it to 3 choices.

1) Viewsonic e90F
Specs:
Refresh At 1024*768 - 118 Hz
Refresh at 1280 * 1024 - 89 Hz

2) Viewsonic g90F
Specs:
Refresh At 1024*768 - 105 Hz
Refresh at 1280 * 1024 - 80 Hz

3) Samsung 900NF
Specs:
Refresh At 1024*768 - 85Hz (119 Max)
Refresh at 1280 * 1024 - 85 Hz (89 Max)

4) Something I missed?!?!?!?

this such an easy choice. btw you should be actually looking at the monitor bandwidth/pixel frequenies instead of refresh rates.

if you have small desk go with the samsung 700NF, if space is not a problem go with the 900NF.

🙂

Space is not a problem. The 700NF is a 17 inch monitor. I want a 19 inch monitor - as I already have a 17 inch monitor and it is too small for my needs.

The pixels spacing and bandwitdth are probably the key to the question.
The smaller the pixel spacing ...the higher the cost normally.
There is always some trade-off performance wise .
Certainly a realtime look at the chosen screens is a good idea
rather than reliance on tech data.
Some low tech spec kit often exceeds visually the higher tech spec.
Good luck and Happy Christmas🙂

If your looking for a cheap 19inch monitor, I would go for Samsung 950p or Samsung 19 dynaflat. I'm sure you can pick one up for little over $150.

Samsung should say 700NF. Think 900NF is the 19inch version.

My budget is around $400, nothing firm.

or if you got time--You can go to retail stores like compusa, bestbuys, fry's etc... and have a look arround.
That's usually what I did before buying the monitor online.

Check out Cornerstone at www.monitorsdirect.com... they should have good offering in your price range. I bought a c910 earlier this year (was just over $300) and am very pleased withe monitor, and the company Monitors Direct. They have a good online monitor selecto\ion tool, and caryy most major brands as well as their house brand Cornerstone.

see if you can find an LG915ft+ to look at.

I personally prefer them to the samsung 900nf (which I own).

Having owned a Samsung 900IFT and an Optiquest Q75 (Optiquest is related to Viewsonic), I can say they both make excellent monitors. Right now I would pick the Samsung.

i personally have had very good luck with veiwsonic monitors 🙂

my advice as perviously mentioned is to go out and see the monitors working, play with the settings etc. Try and see them side by side. 🙂

You must see the montor working before buying as they are subjective, just cos i like a monitor doesn't mean you do, and specs aren't everything. 🙂

the 900nf has very sharp images... i haven't seen the other monitors so i can comment on those but i know you can go wrong with the samsung.

I ordered the Samsung 900NF for $325 Shipped from dell (not bad at ALL). We will see if I like it in use 🙂

<< 900NF can actually do 89Hz max on 1600x1200. >>

And THAT, my friend is the reason why you buy a Samsung 900NF. You don't buy a $400 19" Monitor to run at 1024x768 at insanely high refresh rates. You buy a 19" monitor because you need real estate...and buying a Samsung is also a good investment for your vision.

4-6hrs a day editing movies and some pictures gets old...and boring...but it doesn't hurt your eyes at least. I wish I had one. My roommate has one and I'm always over his shoulder drooling.

That is until I see how bad his 2D image quality. Sucka bought a GeForce 3 to do photoshop work🙂
