Strange request it is, I know, but I can really appreciate the help. I need to pick a monitor that I can adjust in height all the way down to having the bottom edge of the monitor touch the desk! :|

Now, why this strange request? My mother in law has a toshiba laptop (celeron 2.0 Ghz, but because Mhz don't paint the whole picture, this fact will: northwood core, over 4 years old) The machine is painfully slow now, and any time I have to give maintenance is agonizing :(

I proposed a new machine, and I suggested a desktop. She said it MUST be a laptop.... even though she doesn't take it anywhere!!?? The reason is her HEALTH. She has a very bad back, and she can't lift her head to look at a monitor at regular height without getting pain in a few minutes. That is why she has a laptop. She needs the monitor to sit low to the ground.

Any suggestion? I'll appreciate it. Thanks.

Why not get or build her a computer desk that has the display embedded in the desktop so that she looks down on it?

I teach in a computer lab, and we have done that for the instructor's podium. The screen is down in the desktop - the students can't see it - only the projected display from it.

These are available commerically and are called "sub-surface desks."

How about finding a monitor that's wall-mount compatible and finding a way to get that to sit on the desk (or just wall-mounting it)?
