define ultra compact.
What might you be using it for, or what features do you need? Pictures or video, what quality, etc?
Or is this like a spy camera purpose?

i picked up a Canon Powershot SD630 last week for 300 dollars plus tax shipped from dell
its small, huge 3" screen. i havent tinkered with it much yet, but the ISO800 is its main selling point. its only 6.0MP but I tried to take a video with it, at 640x320 30fps, thats pretty awesome, i probably won't need my DV Camcorder anymore. i bought it for my italy trip next week.

it replaces my old Pentax Optio s4i. which still works great

Though it's hard to go wrong with the Canons, check out the Casio EX-Z750 for great MPEG-4 video. Just happens to be on sale today at Newegg. Don't get the Z850; video quality supposedly dropped on the newer model.

Yeah i'm also kind of in the same boat. I just got the Casio EX-S500 for my birthday http://www.dpreview.com/news/0506/05060901casio_exs500.asp and it seems like a great point and shoot camera, however i'm more into photography than that (well I used to be and i'm getting back into it). It's insane how small it is, the size of a credit card and just a half inch thick. Infact the other day I accidently grabbed this camera instead of my phone (RAZR) and I didn't even realize it until I needed to make a call that I grabbed my camera and not my phone. The only problem is it's too simplistic, doesn't have a manual mode and the quality just doesn't seem even as good as my old Minolta Dimage (forgot model name, but it's 4 megapixels). I'm really debating on selling this sweet little camera and buying another one with a manual mode and better picture quality. Anybody have any recommendations? I like the best quality, stuff I can turn any picture I shoot into a background, but it also needs to be really small and easy to carry around (otherwise i'll never take any pictures with it anyway).

Anybody have any recomendations for me? I don't even know what I can sell this thing for, it's in like-new condition. Opened box and have only taken a few pictures with it.

Could you post a few high res pictures with it? Including a macro shot.

I  my SD550, so (and I think the concensus around here will agree) -- whatever canon SD fits your budget is the ultracompact for you.
