98 Eclipse or 300zx?

I'm going to be tuning it. Performance, looks, i just can't deicde, they are both great.

Any other nice suggestions for a car, in a medium price range, would be great.

Out of those two, the Nissan for sure. Although if you ever intend to do any real engine work (beyond WTF tuning constitutes) I hope you are flexible. :D I think my arms have evolved extra joints from working on my MR-2. (which, if you can find a 91-95 turbo car that hasn't been abused and is affordable, are pure sex machines)

Mustang GT.

Hate mustangs to death.

why? :Q

Well, overall i know their performance and cost is very nice. However, i just purely despise the way the 2000-2004 look. The new one, has a very nice front, but the back is high up in the air. Pisses me off. I care a lot about looks though. So Mustangs are out of the question.

'96 was the last year of the 300ZX. Sales were very low the last few years of production, so good luck finding one in good condition.

Speaking from personal experience, I'd steer clear of the Eclipse unless you like heartache.

edit: the Eclipse GSX is AWD.

Whats with the 240sx's? Most of them are ugly as hell, and you can't find nice accessories for em.

I guess i'd go for the 300zx.

What about a 1991 - 1998 Dodge Stealth R/T TT or Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4?
93+ Supras are nice also, but probably more than you want to spend.
93+ Mazda RX7 is cool too....find one with a blown rotary and throw an LS1 in it :)
98+ LS1 Camaro / Firebird?
1983 - 1989 Mitsubishi Starion / Chrysler Conquest - picky and high maintenance, but sweet cars - and you can't beat the rarity factor. :D You can find these very cheap, if you look around. Look for a later widebody model w/the factory intercooler (88-89 is most desirable). Warning - these are not for those who don't want to do any work on the car!

Out of those two options you provided, I'd say get the 300ZX. Always loved those. I wouldn't bother with a N/A one though.
