Hopefully, I've got that $100 GC to amazon coming from AOL. Assuming it does, I'm planning to throw in another $100 cash and buy a set of 5.1 speakers and an mp3 player. Here's the leading contenders in each race:
Logitech z640
Logitech x530
Samsung YP-T5V
IRiver 790T
On the speakers, I want to use them both for gaming (FPS, adventure, RTS, racing, pretty much everything) and for video editing. For the latter use, the less colored the sound, the better. I don't need room shaking bass (though nice to have it available, just not all the time). I've listened to both speakers, but never been able to have a side-by-side comparision.
On the mp3 player, the most important feature for me is line-in recording. I plan to run a pair of cheap mics into it to have 2 channels of recording of some live events for video editing work. Both these players have that ability, so that's why they made the list. If I got the iriver, I'd probably splurge the extra cash to get the 512 meg model.
So, any thoughts on these? Which way I should go? Another model I should be looking at in that same price range?
