OK I have the following system:
P4 2.4(B) 533
ASUS P4PE mobo
256 Corsair XMS3200 Cas2
GF3 Ti 200 (9600 3dmarks when o/ced)
450W PSU
Stock HSF (wanna upgrade)

Now, i have had a bit of a dabble at o/cing this system and can get it to 2853 stable. I've had it to 2950+ as well but dont trust the hsf.
I want to know what sort of settings I should have for the memory, fsb, vdimm, vcore etc and should I leave the PCI on auto or set it to something?
If someone could give me the settings for the most aggressive and most o/cable I would be most appreciative.

Help me get this ah heck over 3 Ghz!!!

Cheers

It'll be tough to get it over 3Ghz stable. Lap the heatsink and use AS3 on the core. The stock HS is fine just as long as you have good airflow in your case. I better HS won't cool it past the ambient temps in your case. I use a stock HS and many others have with great results.

I would set the PCI/AGP lock to 33/66. You shouldn't have to adjust the Vdimm. Run the FSB as high as you can get it stable with the fastest memory settings. Lastly, I wouldn't adjust the core voltage past 1.7 and you'll want to check if the board undervolts. Don't know about the P4PE.

At 2.85ghz or ~158fsb I would run at lest a 3:4 ratio...use 2.5v to 2.6v ...likely have to set timings to cas 2.5,6,3,2....memory would be running at 420mhz ddr at that point.

I would not go above 1.7v actual...I mean actual and not what the bios is telling you as asus mobos tend to overvolt anywhere from .03-.06v

with the memory you have you can likely push the memory as high as 430mhz or 161fsb, but like mentioned above unless you have a c stepping chip 3ghz will be tough to get...Once you get to about 410mhz you may need to drop cas setting to cas 2.5,6,3,3 to get it to run stable...follow same vcore max of 1.7v idle...

At 2950 or 164fsb with a 3:4 ratio it may be very difficult to get ram to be stable since it will be running at around 438mhz ddr. 3ghz may be very tough to get stable within vcore and likely impossible with current ram at 3:4 ratio so you will have to drop back to a 1:1 ratio and around 333mhz ddr but can max timings out to cas2,6,2,2.

Is this a c stepping chip?? If so there may be hope for 3ghz....
