I am definitely a noob when it comes to overclocking. I have read most of the guides around but am looking for some easy steps for my particular hardware. I'm assuming I'll need to bump up the voltage for the Ram. I'm looking for a mild overclock, say maybe 2.2 - 2.4. The rest of my new system is as follows:

OCZ Modstream 450
Lian-Li PC7 B plus
Connect 3D X800XL
DiamondMax 10 IDE 250GB
NEC 3540

Thanks for any help!!

p.s. I'm using the stock HSF, but I stripped the original thermal paste and used Arctic Silver 5.

Read the guide.

start with 250HTT 250x9 = 2250 (2.25GHZ) and keep bumping until you cant anymore, bump the voltage and repeat.

Make sure you give the VX at least 3v. Mine is running 231mhz 2-2-2-7 @ 3v

I really suggest the guide though for learning to OC the CPU.

It wouldn't boot at 250. What am I doing wrong? It will boot at 244. I've cranked up the voltage to 3.1.

Read the guide.

Go through it step by step. To really help we need to know what your max HTT, max chip capable, and max memory frequency is (as described in the guide) and exactly what you did to reach those values.
