Help Me Overclock my Intel Pentium 4/ 2.4C GHz 800MHz FSB w/ MSI Neo2 865PE Board

Hi, I am new to overclocking. From what I hear, my setup can get up to 3 Ghz or over. All I've done is the MSI overclocking software. it makes it to about 2.7Ghz and reboots. Are there any guides or can someone give me some pointers?

My hardware:

MSI Neo2 865PE
P4 2.4Ghz 800 Mhz FSB
1GB 400 Mhz Corsair RAM
Radeon All in Wonder 7200
4 IDE Drives

What is the SSpec of your chip? Im using the MSI Neo 2 myself. Do you have the latest bios (March 2004)? I downloaded and installed the latest bios which works fine on my 2.4c SL6z3 M0. But I had a 2.8e prescott (I just sold) that MSI disabled the voltage adjustment on. I had to install the November 2003 bios to get it to work. I wish I had made a copy of the December 2003 bios the board shipped with. Im used to using Award bios which always makes a backup copy. AMI bios does not automatically so be sure to make a copy first!

I have scoured the internet for days looking for the December 2003 bios that the MSI Neo 2 PLS board shipped with. MSI deleted it from the website. If you could make a copy of the bios and send it to me via floppy disk (I can reimburse your for your trouble / expenses -$5?) or maybe you could make it available for download. Its easy to make a copy of, just get the AMI bios flash program from MSI (packaged inside the zip file w/the neo bios here). The command line is adsfi711 oldbios.bin /s. Again, this is for the PLS version of the board. If you are using the platinum version or the G version with the built in video you will need a different version available at msicomputer.com.

Anyway, back to your question - it depends on what version 2.4c you have. If you have an SL6wr or SL6wf it probably wont overclock as good as an SL6z3 which is what I have. In addition you might consider upping the voltage to at least 2.60 and disabling the performance mode (set to normal).

Let me know. My chip runs at 3.3ghz.
