Okay, I'll try to make it short and sweet: I have a D-Link DI-614+ router and I connect two computers to it, one of which connects directly to the onboard switch and one of which connects via a wireless card. (D-Link DWL-520+) Could you please give me some tips on configuration of the wireless card/router? Also, I have a problem when using it where initially, the wireless connection is fine but gradually the connection gets slower and slower until it is almost non-existant. I am only 20 feet away from the router so I know it's not the distance. When this speed drop happens the people connected via a different wireless card (Linksys) and the direct plugin seem to be fine. I'm not quite sure what the problem is. Anyways, tips and advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Well, the fact that another wireless connection works fine, as well as the fixed connections, seems to narrow it down to a configuration or other issue on your machine. Have you done the usual things, checked for viruses, worms, spyware, etc? Can you monitor traffic that's coming/going from your machine when it's idle and see if something's going on that you aren't aware of?

Since the wireless card link you provided says "The D-Link AirPlus DWL-520+ also includes a configuration utility that can quickly and automatically discover available wireless networks and create and save detailed connectivity profiles for those networks most often accessed." and the details you gave seem to indicate an issue only on your computer, I would re-install the wireless card to start with.

I just re-formatted so I don't think it's the drivers, and I previously had Blaster. So I know that was responsible somehow for it the first time. This install is a fresh driver install, though. This is really characterized by random timeouts from FTP servers (which I'd never previously had a problem with) and http timeouts randomly. The strange thing about the FTP timeouts is that I'll be getting 37-40 kbps down and 40 up and all the sudden it will time out, just out of the blue. I maybe configured something wrong. Does anyone know something I potentially screwed up? Thanks for advice in advance.
