Ok, progressive scan DVD players are more spendy then a regular $20 target special DVD player, just wondering if my TV can take advantage of it or what it is actually.

Just picked up this TV last night for a niiiice price of $189

TV

And now need a DVD player and not sure if I should spend the extra cash for progressive scan.

I dunno, I just got a 27" Flat screen for $189, didn't really look at any of the other features.

You can get better color from Component even if it doesn't get any sharper.

wrong! EDTV's (enhanced definition) supports progressive scan as well.

however, to the OP, your TV doesnt support progressive scan.

progressive scan is 480P and your TV does not support that, therefore you will not benefit from a progressive scan DVD player at all.

sorry, I have an HDTV not an EDTV. i was just correcting you because you gave false information. and the EDTV Plasma TV's are selling great to consumers who don't know a damn thing about them because they see Plasma tv's and think OH WWOW ITS THE BEST TV!!

whats wrong with it? i have an EDTV because HD wasnt worth it for what i want to do with my TV. shove those rolling eyes up your craphole you waste of bandwith.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with ED, it's a step above SD.

For many people the price of HD simply isn't worth it, an ED set is just fine.

My projector is EDTV and it pretty much would have been a waste (and a ton more money) for me since I'm not getting HD and I'm using it for DVD viewing 90% of the time.

Nothing wrong with ED if you aren't going to get the benefit of HD and don't want to spend a whole lot more.

Note I said EDTV plasmas, not EDTV's in general.

i bet if you ask the guys on here who own an EDTV they won't own a plasma.
