I am going to give my sister my older laptop (since I bought a new one from the recent hot deals).

She doesn't know anything about computers and probably will get a bunch of spyware,etc..

Is there anyway I can setup a windows XP pro account where this won't happen?

Not making her account an administrator will help. Tell her to use Mozilla/Firefox for browsing instead of IE, and enable the firewall.

If she wants to have any admin privileges at all (installing or modifying anything system level) just get SpyBot and use the immunize mode

You could restrict IE and it's settings to Low, so none of that ActiveX stuff pops up. I don't think a Restricted User would keep spyware from getting on the machine, unless it specifically keeps that from being loaded on.

since you're a girl (or sounds like one), we'll let you go. As others have said, use the Immunize feature from Spybot and restrict her user account, use the highest IE settings, set windows to autoupdate, and install firefox.

I dont get the rationale here...
I know this is the wrong forum, but more people here?
So I can post anything in OT because more people will see it?
Common...
