Help me on my Essay please, proofread or give hints please! (12 angry men)
Here it is, it is based on the movie version of "12 angry men", and the essay question was "What influences a jurys decision facts or personality of the juror?" i sorta said both well here is my essay please help me on it:
When is the last time you made an important decision? Was it based on cold hard facts, or did it reflect upon you? Sometimes in life your thoughts, professions, or personality reflect on your thinking and decision-making. ?Twelve Angry Men? by Reginald Rose is an example of where this occurs. Twelve men are brought together in a room to decide whether a boy is guilty of murdering his father. Whether they brought good or bad qualities from their thinking or they stuck to the facts, they all affected the outcome. The leadership skills of the foreman, and the opinionated acts of Juror #7 affected the actions and decisions in the jury room. I think the decision of jurors is supposed to be based only on facts, but a lot of the time the decisions are based on facts and reinforced with opinions.
Juror #1 or the Foreman is a high school football coach in the movie; his position in the jury room is the Leader. On the football field, the Foreman acts as a mediator, a leader, or an organizer. As the foreman for this trial, he carries all those traits into the jury room with him. If it were not for this foreman, there would not have been any order in the jury room. He acts as a coach in the jury room and keeps order. He uses his position wisely and does not let his opinions get in the way of his job. His leadership skills also shine in the jury room as well; he controls and leads every discussion, speaking order, voting, and making sure everyone is heard. With the excellent traits that he brings into the jury room, he allows the trial to run smoothly and effectively and making his own decision and opinions based on facts.
Juror #7 is a salesman, and he definitely brings his working traits with him in the jury room. As a salesman he is impatient, opinionated, and rude. He does not care about anyone but himself. He shows that he is very impatient by not even thinking about the trial but rather the baseball tickets that he has for the game that night. He just wants to get out of there as soon as he can. His character is very opinionated in the sense that that definitely stands out in the jury room and he does not care what anyone has to say. He has his own beliefs and does not care and want to hear anyone?s views. He is also known to be rude and mean, because he shows no compassion towards the boy on trial and he just wants to get it over with. He does not even stop to think that someone?s life is at state since he is too concerned about his own. Juror #7?s profession and personality does not give him the best qualities to be a juror, not only is he making a decision rarely based on the facts, but he is also using his impatient personality to make a vote that will quickly end the trial.
The foreman and Juror #7 are two men who are not only influenced by their personalities and thoughts, but also by the facts. Their professions give the men qualities, good and bad, that they carry with them in their thinking. And each man shows these qualities in the jury room and they affect the actions and decisions that are made.
