Help me OC my a64 3500+

I need help o/c my Athlon 64 3500+ its stock 2.2ghz i wanna get it to atleast 2.4 and get it going on around 280HTT or more if possible. at the moment i probably wont o/c that high yet untill i get a much better cpu coller than the stock 1 now, but i still wanna learn everything i need to do now to get it to those levels.

Basically i just want some words on what to do with my multiplier and fsb and voltage settings, i do know a lil but im not sure of anything and i want some solid info before i try o/c this setup so i know what exactly im doing.

My motherboard has had issues with not having pci/agp locks working properly on certain bios's if anyone knows the latest version or any custom one for this board that is the best and has agp/pci locks please tell me where i can get it.

My system is:

-A64 3500+
-Asus A8V Deluxe Wi-Fi
-Asus v9999 Geforce 6800 Ultra
-OCZ PC 3700 EB DC Platinum (2x512)
-OCZ 520Watt Ultra Quiet Powerstream
-Thermaltake Tsunami Dream Case

You wont get close to 280htt without a pci/agp lock. I dont recommend ocing without it.

You could be able to Overclock with your stock HSF. It should work fine just like mine.🙂

Ive been overclocking my 3500 on the Asus board and its being slightly annoying. Ive downgraded the bios from 1007 to 1005 because apparantly the agp/pci lock does not work very well. Still overclocking the ram to 210 is unstable because prime95 runs only for a few minutes. Upping the CPU voltage to 1.75 from 1.5 still does not do the trick. Also complete locks happen randomly so I just set it back to defaults. The ASUS bios is rubbish... the RAM is good (Crucial Ballistix PC3200)

Any reasons for why this should happen at this "minimal" overclocking speed?

I have a similar system as listed below in my signature.

I am curious what BIOS settings I should attempt to change first to obtain a small overclock such as 2.4ghz

I can find the BIOS settings fine I just need to know step by step which settings to change.
