Help me OC my 2.4c

I have a 2.4c, asus p4p800 delux and i have a 2x 512 twin xms corsair ram. I got my cpu speed to 250 but i had to drop my DDR speed to 320 as opposed to 400. i also upped the vcore to 1.575 instead of 1.525 where it used to be. my pci/agp is locked at 66/33. If i push cpu speed to 260 regardless of the ddr speed (dropped to 266) or the voltage boost (vcore up to 1.75, and i don't wanna get too much higer without upgrading from the stock heatsink and fan) I can't get the thing to even boot. I look on the URL=http://www.cpudatabase.com/CPUdb/Showdata.cfm]CPU database[/URL] at others and i have no illusions about getting to 3873 or 3900 but getting 3424 at vcore 1.55 has been done with stock cooling gear. I would like to get somewhere close to that if possible. any help would be appreciated.

You know, the guys with the extreme o/c's just bench them, don't run those speeds 24/7. The thermal pad is the weakness in the stock HSF, I'd guess they also used a paste instead. I wouldn't recommend much beyond 250FSB on the pad. You're reaching the limits on your RAM, not your CPU (you shouldn't have to run VCore that high at those speeds, and on the pad it's especially bad). Monitor your temps closely, determine max from Prime95. If you want to go higher, I'd get a better HSF. And you can lower your mem freq to 266 to go higher.

By upping the fsb to 250 and setting your ram to 320 (5:4) your ram is not underclocked,it's running at DDR400.

I was able to get to 3.4GHz with the Intel HSF with default voltage with memory timings @ 5:4
Since then i added an SLK-900u + Panaflo 92mm and Artic Silver Ceramique and 6 Panaflo 80mm case fans.

And got to 3.6Ghz at 1.55v with 5:4 timings

I can also get to 3.4Ghz at 1.52v with 3:2 timings

And at 1:1 the most i can get is 225fsb with this HyperX PC-3200

I'm planning to upgrade to PC3700/4000 soon to test how high i can get with 1:1.. maybe 250? hehe 😛

One thing that will help your OC greatly is giving me your CPU. 🙂

Just kidding. Play around with the settings. There's nothing like good ol' trial and error.
