Ok here's the deal. I'm gonna be applying to college in like, a month (for early admission) as a computer engineering major.

Right now I'm taking this class called "Senior Seminar" which is basically a 4 hour total class combining AP English and AP Government. I have it every other day. To fit this into my schedule I had to drop Calculus BC to take Calculus AB..which is much easier, and starts where I was at March of last year (3.5 months repeat).

Since I'm going to be a CE major, I think I should be in the higher calculus and just concentrate on my math and science, and just take regular english and government. Or, should I stay in the seminar class now because I won't have much english/govt. exposure in college?

Thanks in advance. I need to decide what I want to do real soon, since every day i'm more behind in math, and my counselor might not allow this anyway.

how are you grades right now? your rank? your sat/act score? if those are fine, then concentrate on chem/phys/math classes your life will be much easier in college.

last year i got a 3.93. My SAT is 1430. My grades this year should be similar to last year, a little lower though because i'll slack off later in the year. However I won't break the B range in English or Government.

If I drop that class and take the calculus BC...then in my eyes the only thing i'll have to worry about and work hard on is Physics and Calculus, because the rest will be a joke

Yeah, definitely stick with calc. At best, the english/govt class will fill a general requirement, which can probably fill with an easy class when you're in college. But you'll have to take calc one way or another, and for your major you want to get those out of the way asap.

How cut throat is the school you are applying for? Go for the easier math. You'll do better learning Calculus the way your college wants you to learn it, not a toned down way that the high school teaches it.

At engineering schools, the english and govt classes are just bs ways to fulfill a requirement that the board of regents set. Get em done with in high school and don't bother with the petty stuff in college.
