Help me make longer ata66 cables

I know you are not supposed to go over 18" or 24" depending on who you talk to but I want to try making some 36" cables and see how they work. Anybody have any ideas on where I can buy flat cable and connectors seperately so I can make them the length I want? I spent all day looking on the web and the only place I found has 100ft min quantities.
