Help me make Chicken Noodle Soup

I need an idiot proof recipe (not using canned stock).

So far on my shopping list are:

Chicken breasts on the bone
Egg Noodles
Celery
Onion
Carrots
Garlic

I'm not sure on the seasonings, is it just even amounts of dry tyme and parsley? What about rosemary?

Render a whole chicken for your stock in water. Keep is on a very low simmer. (with quartered onions, celery, salt/pepper corns, some garlic, bay leaf...basically you're making a stock) Takes about 3-4 hours.

sweat oniions, carrots, celery, maybe mushrooms separately.

add vegatables to broth (that you've pulled the chicken meat off of and discarded the carcass), simmer for a while, add noodles.

don't forget salt and pepper. You should be tasting it the whole time.

It takes a while, but this is how you make "real" chicken noodle soup. The taste of the stock alone makes your eyeballs roll back in your head.
