You are aware of the letter N right? Once I can understand but three times in 2 sentences? As for the cd-rom, just pull one from a throwaway you see on the street, or use a USB external if you can.

You might...I know some old Sony PC's that would NOT load the recovery CD unless you had an actual CD-ROM that was from Sony and had their special firmware on it.

*EDIT: They cost like $100 too for a regular CD-ROM =/

are you asking for a CD Drive or a bootable apple disk?

This thread is heading in the direction of the "solution with crystal" thread

Find your System Software CD that came with your computer and put it into your CD drive. The CD should spin up and your computer should start booting from the CD. If this does not happen, restart your computer (command+control+power key). When you hear it chime, hold down the 'C' key. If it still does not boot, restart again and this time hold down command, option, shift and the delete (backspace) key after you hear the startup chime.

Nothing works. I've tried everything. The problem is that it is not an Apple bootable drive. I need a drive that can boot off of cd's. Only the Apple drives, and a select few other drives work.

I'm trying to boot off of my Panther cd's. I even tried with my original g3 cd. Nothing works.

Not true. Only a select few work. A few old HP's were capable of doing this.

Well, it seems you know which drives will work, so just Froogle those.

I am wondering if anyone knows where to find them cheap. Some places charge a lot.
