Hey guys,
SO I have a 1TB Caviar black for my OS drive, and a pair of Seagate 1.5TB 7200.11 drives for data. One of these is internal on my Intel ICH10R, and the other is hooked up via eSATA to the JMicron controller.
Performance is fine, hotswap works great, no problems there.
The only thing is, the esata drive will frequently spin down! If I don't use it for ~30 mins or so, it spins down and then I have to listen to it spin up and wait 5 seconds until I can use it. Very annoying, and I like to just keep all my drives spinning anyway..
I tried looking at the drive with SeaTools, thinking maybe it was an acoustic / power management thing, but saw nothing that I could tweak.
At this point I'm thinking it has something to do with the JMicron chipset, or its drivers.
Any suggestions?
Thx
