I want to start a Paypal account but I'm leary of the process as I've seen several horror stories poated about fake Paypal scams. I was hoping you guys would hook me up with the info needed to register with the real paypal it's Paypal.com? I presume  Also any advice on how to handle my account aside from giving you my money ;) would be much appreciated. Thanx for any help :)

If you go to https://www.paypal.com (or just www.paypal.com) (PAYPAL.com), you shouldn't get scammed.

This is what I do when I logon to my paypal account every time to make sure it's safe.

I put in my userid and an incorrect password. If it lets me login, then I know something's up and it's a scam (this has never happened). Instead I get the incorrect password page, where I then put in my correct password and log in.

Basicly, don't click on any paypal links you get via email (except the "you have sent cash" ones you get when you pay someone). If you think there might be a problem with your account, manually go to the paypal site and log in that way. Any paypal site should redirect you to a secure site, the scam sites won't do this.

As long as you're smart about using it, you shouldn't have a problem. Don't associate it with your bank account if you're that paranoid. Make sure whoever you send funds to is verified and you should be fine.

Anyone willing to explain how I verify the person I'm sending the funds to or is it readily explained at paypal? I know I ask a lot of questions but I like to know before I go whenever possible once bitten, twice shy ya know?

Allow me to elaborate WHY paypal sucks.

Their 800 number can only be found at paypalsucks.com. what does that say?

They dont have written authorization from you to draft from your bank accounts. That means every payment made, cc or not can be fraudulent.

Everyday, people use stolen credit cards with the system, ripping off sellers. Somehow, there is insurance protecting the person with the stolen credit cards but not me.

Need more info?
