Well,

It's time to build another system, not for me however, my girlfriend wants a computer to take to college with her. I'm thinking a 1.33ghz TBird should do her fine, since prices are so low. She'll never need this much computer but said she doesn't want to upgrade in a few years so this is the route to go I think.

First, what's a good motherboard for this chip?

Also, if I buy the retail version, is that heatsink/fan combo enough without worrying about special loud fans, arctic silver, etc?

Other than that I should be able to cover the basics of the system, i'm not THAT out of the hardware scene ;) Thanks in advance guys (and girls if you're out there).

well if you want if you want to go pc133, the ASUS A7V133, is a great board, if you want to go with DDR, the MSI K7Master is a good stable board. As far as the Retail HSF, it should be fine, i would use a thermal compound like Arctic silver no matter what, i think the Retail heatsink just comes with a TIM, but well it would be ok though, if you want a real quiet/good HSF look at the Taisol's, very quiet and good cooling, Compaq uses them in their OEM's for the tbird.. well hope this helped...

As long as you are not overclocking the HSF that is provided is fine with the thermal pad that is also on the HSF unit. If you were going to overclock, then I might suggest some Arctic Silver II and complete removal of the thermal pad.
