So here's my system -

ABIT BE6 with 128mb of ram
40 GB hard drive - partioned into C: and D:
25 GB hard drive - partioned into E: and F:

My hard drive set-up

All of these hard drives are set to fat32, and I wanted to install windows2000 on D: Hard Drive 2. I've put up this photo and as you can see -- Win98 has split my drives up as:

C: - the master hard drive
D: - the second hard drive

E: - the master hard drive
F: - the second hard drive

So, getting to the point - I have the Win2000 ATA\66 drivers and I drop the Win2000 disk in and select to choose where I want program installed... and my system re-boots......

I get to the blue Windows2000 setup screen and I hit F6 to install the ATA\66 2000 drivers -- then it loads the drivers and then nothing else seems to happen... I mean I get lines saying the Win2000 is installing and it appears the hard drive light comes on, then nothing else seems to happen...

So right now, I don't know if I missing something, or what. How long does it take to install Windows2000? I let it run for an hour, and the hard drive light was still on, but the install still wasn't done.

I'm not sure if I have my drive set up correctly, or maybe I'm in too much of a rush to have the install complete...... aggh! If anyone has an idea, I'd love to hear it...

Thanks everyone,
Uber

I had lots of trouble with Win2K and the Highpoint drivers and Win2K. I used every Highpoint driver up to 1.25. I was using Maxtor hard drives. I could install without encountering the troubles you are describing but eventually (after running Win2k for a month or 2) I'd get BSOD's about the Highpoints being a "inaccessible boot device". Even though I liked the BE6, I eventually switched to a Promise Ultra 66 card, problems went away. Good luck.

StanFL - thanks for mentioning the Highpoint drivers -- that's what the problem was. I downloaded the latest driver set 1.25 and was trying to install Windows2000 with them.

I switched to the earlier drivers and my install went along with a hitch.

Thanks again,
