I was making great gains until about a year ago when I tore my rotator cuff. Over the last 3 months, I have managed to get alot of my strength back, but I can no longer do any barbell bench pressing or dips. When I dumbell bench, I can drop my right elbow a little as I lower the weight to take the pressure off my shoulder.

The problem with doing this is that it also takes away from the chest at the same time. I seem to have hit a plateu in terms of my chest workouts (my left arm has been making gains, but not my right)

Can anyone recommend some exercises that can really hit my chest without putting alot of strain on my rotator cuff?

I've started focusing alot more on squats and deadlifts, but i'd like to add a little more mass to my chest (I am pretty satisfied with my arm size).

You'd have better luck with asking people at the gym vs. asking these scrawny internet nerds for workout advice. :D

Ahem, there are a number of regular lifters on ATOT ;)

OP, you are asking about mass - how is your diet? Is your weight going up? Are you gaining any measurable amount of size on other muscle groups?

Dumbell bench is a lot healthier than barbell. Listen, I'm no expert on injuries, so check on this stuff before you do it. Work on all variety of dumbell presses along with flies. That's mostly what you have left to you, and flies can be quite effective in conjunction with compound joint exercises like the bench presses. Most of all if you want a particular part of your body to grow, you need to focus on it. Start off each workout that includes chest with chest. Utilize full body workouts and do chest at every one. I don't know if this is scientifically proven, but mentally focus on your chest. When you're just sitting around with nothing to do practice flexing your chest muscles. Really imagine your muscles flexing during your lifts, focus your mind in on the movement. Go to TNation and get some chest workouts, ask on the forums for info on how to do it most efficiently with your injury, there are many guys there in the know.

Blah, stupid cheap internet. You were going to get a long response. Now I'll just say to try Cable Bench Presses.

How is your bench form? A lot of people tend to flare their elbows out, causing much more shoulder rotation than necessary. Try keeping your elbows tucked if you don't already.

If the average lifter is anything like the lifters at some of the gyms I've been to that wouldn't be the best idea.
