Help me in choosing a 550W+ Quiet Power Supply for +-$100

As a quick reference, it's pretty hard to beat this page.

If I'm checking out a PSU, and it doesn't appear on that page, I usually cross it off my list...

Even though i totally agree with the 80+ certification....
yet it needs to be said that individual companies send there PSu`s in to be tested.
Just because there is a list of PSu`s that are 80+ certified does not mean that if your PSU is not on the list your PSU is of lesser quality than those at 80+ site.
yet there are alot of PSu`s that are rated in the mid to high 70`s as far as Efficeincy rating goes...
So don`t toss that 80+ stuff around as if you should avaid any PSU that is not listed...

I'm really pleased with my Cooltek 600W. it's reliable, quiet and cost about 100-110 bucks but I don't know if it's available outside the EU...

I know Seasonic is quality stuff, probably one of the best. But, generally, people that don't know much about PSUs know about a couple brands that are really good. PC P&C, Seasonic, and sometimes one or two others. So, everytime a PSU thread comes up, most people are getting a Seasonic or PC P&C recommendation. Ever see a Etasis PSU get recommended, Enhance, Liteon, Zippy, Masscool???

umm if the budget allowed a PC and Cooling PSU, you wouldnt recomend it? Or even a Seasonic, your telling me you still wouldnt recomend it? How are these choices noobish? then fine your giving out noobish choices to people asking noobish questions so therefore it should all be balanced and faired out no?

Also how can something that be such top notich in quality and performance be noobish? Thats like telling a person go buy a CAMRY, oh wait, thats a noobish car choice because everyone will recomend that car in aspect of reliablity and resale.

Maybe, if the OP can save himself $50 or more and still get a PSU that will power his rig great, I don't see why he/she wouldn't want to do so. A flat out recommendation of PC P
&C or Seasonic in every PSU thread just makes no sence, I don't understand why you support it.

You can get into the PC Power & Cooling Silencer series for under $100 with the Silencer 470 then the prices top out at $199 for the Silencer 750.

The Enhance 0560 is just under $100. if you go to eWiz via Froogle. 600W SLI rated.

I suspect PCP&C will be quicker on RMAs than seasonic will and i think it's a 5 year to 3 year warranty, so if prices are equal then i'd go PCP&C, thing is that they rarely are equal.

I personally recommend enhance, and I know anyone in their right mind would do the same. Their 5150gh and 5140gh represent the best value in the mid power psu range ATM. Praxis, corsiar is fairly new, and certainly not an automatic recommendation, though their units are excellent. Only howard and gy really recommend them at this point...

I think Zepper's right about the silencer thing. If you check the UL entry for sea sonic (oddly their down as two words there) there's a 750W entry that looks remarkably similar to the specifications of the silencer.

The new Corsair PSUs are built by Seasonic on the new M12 platform. Both units rate very
well. Seasonic will be bringing out the M12 in late September....Finally!

The new Mushkin PSUs are PsOS.

The present 5150GH(12V combined of 31.5A) is NOT the Silverstone Element.
Enhance will release the series 3 ENP-5150GH in late September and it is this unit, that is
rebranded to be the Element. It will have a green leaf on the sticker and be RoHS compliant.

Why do Seasonic and Enhance release the rebrands first?? IDK.

Enhance has been around awhile, they supply PSUs for ATMs, arcade gaming machines
and the machines used in gambling parlors/casinos.

Wow. Rally against FSP because of some ripple readings but rally against the Sunbeam because it has a picture of Shamu on the box? Just teasing Z.

I don't use a PSU because it's more expensive. I use a PSU because I like it. I'm guilty of appreciating a certain amount of bling, and I'm well aware that "bling" is an investment without return. But I also make sure that the heart of the unit is something reliable.

But to buy a PSU simply because it's more expensive is just silly. So a lot of the PCP&C recommendations really should be in one ear out the other for most people here.

Then again... I only drive a 2005 Hyundai Elantra. And I'm perfectly happy with it and the fact that I could pay cash for it.
