maybe not the OP, but this guy i used to work with...as soon as he did a fresh install of windows and installed his software he'd start doing full system scans with MBAM and whatever he felt like using for AV, then he'd run ccleaner and hijackthis to make sure nothing had fouled his precious new install

then hed install desktop wallpaper and just look at it, like he was taking a break from all the aforementioned gruelling work.

that fucker was crazy.

That fucker was the OP!

Don't worry, you will stop this madness once your hard drive dies prematurely from all of the re-imaging :p

But seriously, like someone else has mentioned, you might be better off with a tablet, less to be obsessed with.

I used to reformat every half year or so, but it was out of necessity. I've had this Vista64 image for at least 4 years now. It's running great despite a lot of uninstalls of software.

And yeah VM is the way to go for you.

Yup, most of it is useless crapware too that has no noticeable effect on a computer.
It's like asking "what's the best lunchbox to buy a ghost?". You could give an answer, but in the end it would be meaningless.
I'm in the camp of this being a serious mental problem that most likely manifests in other areas of his life.

OP do you find yourself doing the same thing in other aspects or is it limited to the computer? You might need to talk to a professional. You can watch As good As It Gets for inspiration.
