Help me identify this song! AHHH

I know it's a rock song...but the voice is all mellow...it plays from time to time on KROQ here in the orange county/los angeles area....i know part of it goes "gotta promise not to leave when i say...."....as well as "when i sing along with you"

i know that's a vague ass description, but it's the most i can remember. please help me identify this song. thanks :beer:
