Sorry no pics... but they're bright red and about the size of a pencil dot. If you kill them, they smear red also, a lot of it. I find them infesting my front yard / garage area. They crawl all over the car tire-walls, but you can only see them if you're looking for them.

Need to identify them so that I can deal with them. Thx.

I remember them from my early childhood. Don't know what they are but I know they come in green too!

I looked up the red spider mite and even when zoomed out to the typical naked eye perspective, they look too yellow-ish to be my bug.

I'm talking BRIGHT red, almost to an orange. Every single one of them is the same exact color and I see them more on the cement and not on any plants (few plants on that side of the house anyway).

Are there other nominees that fit the description ?

Photos vary. I have seen what you describe and it was a red spider mite. Kind of reminded me of a bright Crayola crayon orange-red.

Hmmm... I know exactly what you're talking about, I see them all the time also. I always thought they were just red (spider) mites.

I believe that the "juvenile" form of the boxelder bug is also red and would tend to hang out more on concrete than would spider-mites.
