In my basement in Chicago. Seen a couple of these guys now and I can't figure out what species they are. They don't seem to run at all when I try and squash them. They have a reddish hue about them and are about the size of a quarter.

Since we're on the subject of posting pics of spiders, I get lot of these in my basement:

Though since I destroyed their lair I don't get as much:

I can't wait to find more so I can use my DSLR and macro lens and get even closer pics.

Killed four of these around the house yesterday. Trade ya.

Screw that. I take care of the spiders I get, and will move them out of harm's way if I have to work around them, but I'd a apply a judicious coat of death to your spiders.

Fuck that. I would use a flamethrower for that basement.

Spiders don't bother me but I have a crazy irrational fear of spider webs. They creep me the hell out. You can bet it took a LONG time to clean that up. Very long pole, high powered light, and shop vac. Slowly made my way inside and sweeped the area far ahead of me before inching forward. I eventually got the entire area done and installed permanent lighting, eventually got it spray foamed. (was a huge heat loss as that is under the unheated/uninsulated garage)

But yeah that is probably the most intensive spider webs I've ever seen. The dust makes it look worse, but in a way, I much rather be able to SEE them, then to run into them blindly. *shudder*
