So I am watching television with my ma and this commercial for Adopt Us Kids comes on. The beginning of it shows a basketball stuck between the rim and the backboard, then this lady starts poking at it with a broom handle. There are a couple of small children standing in the driveway eagerly anticipating the retrieval of the ball, all the while there is a very recognizable song playing in the background.
The lyrics for the song start out as:
"When I need you,
I just close my eyes and I'm with you."
For grins and giggles I ask ma what the name of the song is and who sings it as she is pretty good at that type of thing. Amazingly enough, she doesn't know. She recognizes the song and admits to hearing it dozens of times, but she is drawing a blank.
So I tell her it will take me like 2 seconds to find it on the 'Net. Well so far, no dice.
It sounds very much like a 70's love song, but I'll be damned if I can find it on CDNow or using a lyrics search engine. I did find one reference to it being called "After The Ball Is Over", but nothing to back that up.
