Help me identify an old-ish (late 80's/early 90's) TV show

It was on the old UPN or pre-UPN line up, usually Saturday or Sunday mid mornings along with the other scifi/fantasty shows like Hercules/Xena, Kung Fu - The Legend Continues, etc.

It featured a cop or ex-cop who would moonlight as a vigilante wearing some sort of high tech exo-armor. The guy would ride a pimped out motorcycle. I can't remember the actor's name either, unfortunately.

Any help would be appreciated, as my Google-Fu fails with this one.

EDIT: It's Super Force, he does join the police department, though he was an astronaut before.

i don't think this is it, as i seem to remember the exo-armor thing that you are talking about and this description doesn't mention that

Err, not entirely sure. I do recall an episode where apparently this guy and his father? (who stole the exo suit, forcing the main char to use an "old" version of the suit) contained the blast from some sort of mega-nuclear bomb with both suit shields or something though.
