I'm trying to give some advice to someone about their computer about sensible upgrading for a pc as described over the phone.

On the SYSTEM PROPERTIES page it says it's an AMD K6 w/ 32MB RAM. By the description of the keyboard plug it's an AT case without an AGP video slot. What kind of memory would you deduce it has, EDO or SDRAM? I don't want to go there twice, once to find out what the memory type is, and once to install it.

Is it possible to tell from this?

Is there something in Windows98 2ed that tells what kind of ram it is? They don't have internet right now so they can't download Sandra.

Thanks.

The system summary screen when they first turn on the PC may say what it is - EDO, FPM, SDRAM, etc. Just hit pause when that screen comes up.

By virtue of the fact that it has only 32mb ram and no AGP slot, I would guess that it is EDO. Have them measure a stick. They don't even have to take it out of the box. DIMMs are about 4¼" long and SIMMs are about 5¼" long.
