help me ID this bird!

Ika

Lifer
I was working and listening to music when I heard a thump at my window. I looked over and I saw this bird looking back at me; I've never seen this type of bird before! He was just sort of casually looking at me, like nothing was wrong, and flew away a minute later.

description:

small bird - approximately 3-4 inches tall
mostly yellow body
round black spot on his head (like a cap of black)
medium-sized orange beak, black tip, sharp at end
black wings

its a cool bird, what was it?

agree. very common bird.

probably, but I dont look for birds often and it was probably the most exotic bird i've seen in a while (i'm excited by cardinal sighting, come on! stupid cleveland...)

They get exceptionally bright in the summer.

If you're interested take up bird watching. My parents did it and it was very interesting. They'd fly to exotic locations of the earth just to see birds.

They could tell what the bird was just from their song or by looking at how it flew. They'd take into consideration the beak shape and wing/tail/head shape for the ID. You can tell what a birds diet is and how it eats by looking at the shape of the beak. Neat stuff.

They logged thousands of different species of birds an would get quite excited when they saw a new one.
