I am having an odd burner problem. I started having the problem when I upgraded my computer. I use to have a Dell PII 266 with a promise card and so my burner was the primary master without a slave. Now I have a BE6 motherboard and have tried the burner as master on both the primary and secondary controller. In both cases the burner did not have DMA enabled. The burner is a Yamaha crw4416. I have windows me installed and had it on both machines without problems.
Now for the problem...
First I had problems reading burnt cd's. It would read the normal cd's fine, just not read burnt one's or read them as audio cd's. Eventually I opened the burner up, used an air can to dust it and now it reads cdr's and burnt cd's. However, it is having problems burning. I seem to be able to make audio cd's, but it doesn't like to do cd copies, and it doesn't like to burn from images. Sometimes I get a directory structure but it bombs whenever I attempt to run anything, including autorun and other times I just get an empty cd that registers as 648mb free with 648mb capacity even after going through the burning process with no errors. Also, with some coasters I have made, it still recognizes them as empty cdr's capable of being burnt. The same cd in my dad's plextor says the cd is a coaster. I have even tried burning the same bin file as I did before and still get coasters.
