Hey everyone,

I need suggestions on some old school disco songs! Serious... hee hee. I only have 8 right now and I need to expand it for my future DISCO theme party!

BTW, what's that movie based in Singapore where a dude who works in a supermarket and acts like Bruce Lee for fun and becomes a Disco dancer in order to win a contest? I'm trying to locate all the songs from that movie :)
But first have to find the title of the movie.

"I Will Survive" - Gloria Gaynor

Some of this is more funk than disco, but it's all the same to most people...

Bee Gees - Stayin' Alive (there's a good remix of this, "Wicked Mix" is how I found it)
Walter Murphy - A 5th of Beethoven
Wild Cherry - Play that Funky Music
Lipps Inc. - Funkytown
Bee Gees - Kung Fu Fighting
Commodores - Brick House
Hot Chocolate - You Sexy Thing
KC and the Sunshine Band - That's the Way I Like It
Kool and the Gang - Jungle Boogie

Also for a great, pre-mixed Disco CD I cannot recommend highly enough Dimitri from Paris' "A Night at the Playboy Mansion" and all of the songs on it. You can throw it on, and a mixed crowd (old, young, whatever, varying tastes in music) will not be able to resist dancing, as long as they're in the mood to have fun. It's mostly more recent stuff, but for the most part sticks squarely in the Disco/House genre. Also, Daft Punk has some disco-ish work.

[edit]: Oh damn, how could I forget ABBA!

Summer Night City
Dancing Queen
Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)
Voulez-Vous
On and On and On
(not quite as disco-ey)
Super Trouper
The Visitors
Eagle
Take a Chance on Me

Don't forget to add some ABBA to the list. Also get yourself a big afro wig and a polyester jump suit.

Thanks everyone. I'm just now being able to begin downloading all those songs! :D

I've been "digging" some of the ones I already downloaded. I love "Everybody was Kung Fu fighting, HUH!" LOL

The Music sucked. I still went to them but it was just to check out the "Local Talent"

During that time a lot of the stop signs on residential streets had Disco etched in them by purveyors of decent Music aka Rock n Roll

Yeah yo Mama and yo Poppa probably went to Disco's as did many of your generations parents. That's why your generation is so pathetic. To much Disco Dust and Bad Music had the same effects as Radiation on your parents sexual reproductive oprgans and you ended up a sour load.

i'll agree with you and say that most of my generation is just a bunch of little punks and spoiled brats. but let me tell you that i am not one of them. mommy and daddy don't pay for my car, my ivy league schooling, etc... i was kicked out of my house when i was 16 so i learned respect rather quickly. but as for the rest of the kids today, i can't stand them anymore than you can.

You didn't miss much ! crummy music and pasty faced idiots with their shirts unbuttoned to the navel and their goofy clod hopper shoes , asking "what's your sign?"

I used to love heading over the river to Cambridge to Passim's Coffehouse instead, saw a lot of old time Blue's atists there :)

Yeah but all the Coke Whores use to hang out at the disco's. We'd go there on Friday nights and then take our girlfriends out on Saturday night to the Rock Shows or the Blues Places.
