For some reason, when we signed up for the Guardian Home Security, we thought that it was for 3 years (with free equipment). But we noticed that the contract was for 5 years. My wife and I swear that they (the salesperson) said 3 years.

We had the service for 3 years and now we don't want it anymore.
Anyone know how to get out this contract?

another things that sucks is after 5 years, we have 30 days to cancel. If we miss that window, it automatically sign us up for another 5 years..

Pay whatever the early-termination fee is. If they say it's the full two years you might check with your state Attorney General's offce to see if state laws or regulations require a lower penalty.

And next time, read the contract before you sign it, what sales people tell you verbally is almost impossible to prove later.

Best of luck to you in getting out of the contract. As you know, salespeople are pond-scum and will say anything to make a sale. Unfortunately, you need to thoroughly read through a contract before signing it to avoid being abused.
