Help me get my sound back!

My sound suddenly quit in the middle of playing a new music CD. The green light was still lit on the back of the bass booster. I plugged the speakers into my stereo's headphone jack, hit the AUX button, and heard nothing. I plugged headphones into the headphone jack on the sound card and heard a few sounds, then silence. I figured the headphones had died.

I sent the bass booster for service, they said a wire had come loose and they had soldered it back on. But when I shake it I still hear something rattling around in it.

Well then I plugged everything back in and now can only hear a few sound fragments when I wiggle the plug going into the speaker jack on the sound card.

What do I try next?

Yeah, I guess so. I don't have one on hand but next time I go to town... after my car gets out of the shop next week. I was hoping it wouldn't be that, I miss my sound and want it back yesterday!

It's a good idea to have spare hardware so you can replace questionable stuff.
Doesn't have to be anything fancy.
From what you describe, it's possible that your problem with your sound card MAY be a defectice speaker jack.

You're probably right. Can the speaker jack be replaced on a sound card? I've ordered a new card, the one I have is almost 5 years old, but if that part can be fixed, I won't throw the old one away, I'll fix it and keep it around for a spare.

Thanks!
