Help me get my RAID working!!!

I just got my new computer and I'm trying to get a RAID 0 setup using 2 Maxtor Maxline III 300GB SATA hard drives and the nVidia RAID controller on the Asus A8N SLI Premium mobo. I followed all of the directions in the manual and got windows to install successfully, but now when it tries to boot the hard drives make strange noises and I get the BSOD saying there was a problem reading from the hard drives. If I just reset the computer the hard drives continue to make that noise and the RAID controller can't detect the array, but if I turn it off and back on it works fine until windows tries to boot again. The strangest part is that windows has actually booted successfully once, but when I turned it off to tweak something inside the case it went right back to having that problem again. I've done a BIOS update and checked for new RAID drivers, and I've looked at the support section of the ASUS website. Please tell me if you can think of any other things I could try to get this setup working.

You've got a bad drive.

Download the diagnostic utility from the Maxtor site. Run it on each drive separately to find out which one. You'll have to disconnect first one drive then the next.

The Maxtor utility doesn't work on nForce 4 chipsets. It says so on the website, and I even downloaded it and tried it to make sure. Do you know of any other hard disk checking programs?
