help me flush my SetiQ

I have my SetiQ set to normally upload results as they are received. This works fine, when Berkeley is cooperating. With the recent hassles, I've got 247 wu's stacked up waiting to upload to Berkeley. Lately, when I check the "connect" status, I find that I have to manually activate it. Normally the "connect" status is on all the time. It looks to me like SetiQ disables the "connect" when it cannot upload a result, and then waits one hour. Is there any way to speed this up?

Yes,

There is a way to speed it up.

Go to the settings page and scroll down until you see "Max delay between retries"

Try setting that to something like 10mins durring this time of need. 🙁

Bazilla - are you saying that your queue is set for "pass-through" meaning that as results come in, they are set to automatically upload to SETI immediately, rather than waiting for a specified time to upload?

If not, then ignore and consider this a nef... 😛

If so, the way things are now, that will never work consistently. The best short-term strategy would be to hold all the results until a low network usage time (ie., 3am - 6am PST). 🙂
 
There seems to be a bit of confusion concerning the times mentioned.

Here is what S@H says:
"The best time for connecting varies but is roughly for the 2 hours on either side of 1:00 PST, or 9:00 UT. "
So that would be 11pm - 3am pacific time.

On their front page they say:
"The best hours to connect are between 7:00 and 11:00 UT"

Which is:

11pm - 3am pacific time
midnight -4am mountain
1am - 5am central
2am - 6am eastern

Are you people finding this to be untrue, or are you just messed up in the times you are reporting?
 
Eponymous, 7-11 UT is plus or minus 2 off of 9UT


yeah, I know - it's just two ways of saying the same thing - they say it one way on the home page and the other on the news page


still, that's no where near: 3am - 6am PST and I have seen the same kind of thing in other threads so I just wondered if this was a typo or if others are finding that the Berkley recommended time is not the best

Wiz - there are some charts posted in this thread over at Ars. You can actually see the peaks and valleys of network usage for the campus. There are links in that same thread to the on-campus network center page where the current charts are posted. Unfortunately, the port for the website where those pages are listed, is blocked at my job's firewall so I can't see them from here, but I usually check them out at home.

A bunch of us have been monitoring the peak/valley times and trying to direct our queue uploads to those times rather than what they claim... 😉
