Help me fix my new computer!

Okay, so I got myself a juicy 2500+ barton, 2x 256 3200 cosair xms memory, and an asus a7n8x. I assembled it in it's brand new case hooked everything up and then powered up. It beeped. Okay so the first ram stick wasn't fully in, depower, fix, power. Turn on and it turns on the monitor but before it shows anything it turns immediately off. Okay, uplug the harddrives from the ide slot (keep the power due to teh radeon, unplug the 2 case fans, and unplug slaves from the ide and power. Still more or less the same problem.

I've tried
-doing this with regular 2100 ddr ram and even an old geforce 2 ultra both with the same start - power - beep - monitor - die combination.
-resetting the cmos
-only one stick of ram
-reseating the radeon
-running it on a phone book w/ a different power supply
All of the above produce the same start power on, monitor (sometimes I can see the post screen before it turns off), and then immediate shutdown.

Help me, anandtech fourms, you're my only hope. (that and the RMA shotgun approach but I really wanna get the running soon)

I had a similiar problem with a system I put together not to long ago and it wound up being the voltage selector on the back of the power supply. The new case I bought had the wrong selection set . Check it out...good luck

Hrmm, it says "11".. I don't think this is the problem though because i've tried a different power supply that worked before on another system and I haven't touched the settings on it.

Both the installation video and the flyer that came with the retail processor didn't mention any orientation but the clip does seem to be pressing where the die would be and the hsf isn't touching the socket edges. Does anyone know whether I'd lose my warrenty if I reseated it and used some AS3 after scrapping away the residue of the thermal pad?
