I got this Sony VAIO here, and there is something wrong with the screen. I don't think its dead because when I fiddle with the cable that connects to the motherboard it blanks out totally and also changes colors without the white line appearing. The screen seems to loop around as if it thinks its a smaller screen, I don't know if its an inverter problem or what, if anyone has any ideas let me know.

I'm willing to bet the LCD flex cable is screwed up. Trying getting a part number off of it and give Sony a call to order a new one. I know with Dell you can order any part you can imagine for you laptop.

I don't think the cable would cause a split screen.

Generally it would flicker or display artifacts.

You didn't mention the OS you are using, but make sure it is set to
LCD in the display properties and that Stretch Mode is not Enabled in the BIOS
to rule out those possiblities.
