This one ain't too shabby either ... Asus 16X DL DVD+/-RW

Also, FYI, with few exceptions, all of todays DVD "burners" will burn all types/formats, ie. DVD and CD, + and -, R and RW. Recording speeds will differ amongst them though.

Finally, as to what will or won't work on your home DVD player, you're just going to have to experiment with the various types as not all home DVD players are created equal, some will play anything, others only like one disc format or another. Some times the cheapest players are the most friendly too ... like my $49 Panasonic player that works with anything.

Nazman101, as Midnight Rambler said, re playing DVD's you burn, it is dependent on your player. As an example, I have two DVD players in my house, an older Panasonic and a newer Samsung (a combo DVD/VCR unit). The Samsung will play both + and - DVDs, while the Panasonic will only play +.

Your source of DVD content will also determine what will work and not work. I won't go into the details of what it takes to "get you there," as I don't know what the forum rules are specific to disc duplicating. If you'd like one person's perspective PM me and we can discuss.

The ability to read a burned disc is all about the media. Finding out which type of media your reader likes will most likely not be a pain in the behind, because most will accept almost any brand dvd+r type discs nowadays...no matter the make or model. Dvd-r discs are still a different story in my experience. I bailed on using them a long time ago.

DVD burners with all the bells and whistles are cheap!!! Gonna remind everybody that the technology gets my vote for best technology bang for the buck ever in the history of the known world! The current price point for the technology is phenomenal (my first ever burner was over $450 with a scsi card) :frown:

I have bought Lite-On brand burners and readers ever since they hit the scene (I did own a Ricoh and a Plextor etc because that is all that was out there at the time) and have been happy with their general compatibility with different blank media, options on the drives, etc.

NEC makes a solid burner.

Samsung makes a solid burner nowadays.

LG brand burners work fine too.

Get my point? There are many low priced burners available these days...pick one and have fun with it!
