A while back there was a link buried on MS site for a free downloadable six month trial of their image composer software.

For quick editing of images, it's a great little proggy.

After it expires, there's nothing you can do. You can't uninstall it and reload it, nothing.

What is it leaving on my system that I can alter to continue to use the demo besides fdisking and starting from scratch?

The only way to actually purchase the SW is if you buy Frontpage I believe, which I do not need.

Thanks in advance.

Or, what is a comparable freeware program for image editing?

Thanks for the effort... I took another look at it, it is v.1.5 Beta. If you try to run it, it just says this beta copy is expired. Nothing else.

It's not looking for a software key.

I'm trying to find what this program is installing on my system or in the reg that is keeping me from simply uninstalling it, and reinstalling it.

I've searched on my system, but cannot find anything.

I probably ought to stay out of this since I'm purely guessing, but what about a registry entry that might not be easily findable even while searching?

For example, I saw an old post on deja.com about someone who had the same problem with Project 98. The answer was to go to registry key HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1661544484-239356022-623648099-500\Software\Microsoft\Of fice\8.0\MSProject\Options\General and change the value of "FirstBoot" from No to Yes.

But I don't know what you'd do if the registry key had nothing but that long string of letters/numbers. It would be hard to know which one it is, but the software would know what to look for.

Do you have a tool that would let you detect changes to the registry? Maybe install the program on another PC that didn't have it installed already and see what reg key(s) get added.
