Ive looked at mickey thompsons, and I like the street tires. I want something I can drive in rain and not spin out, but give me GREAT pavement traction for acceleration. Looking for about an 11 inch tread with

ummm what kinda car and setup?

you talkin you want a drag radial or something?

were you lookin at the MT ET streets? I would never take those out on the road, and you will loose your a$$ in rain with those.

I use BFG DRs on my car. They're sticky as hell with 12PSI in them, but they last about 1500 miles on the street.

Thanks for the help. But I need something I can still drive my car in the rain and not die. Just maybe light rain. I dont want to spin out 3 times on the way home!

I've heard really good things about m&h's slicks, you might check out their drag radials too, although I don't know how they'll perform in the rain. Perhaps you can have one set of wheels for the track and one for daily driving. Then you can have sticky when you really need it, but also rain performance and some decent mileage out of them.

Im looking for traction. The car is made to go down pavement fast. And, stocks, I wonder if it could literally rip the tires of the rims. That enough for ya?

Slicks might, thats why I suggested their racing radial which I believe is dot legal and has some channels to lessen the chances of you getting killed :D

The BFG's are pretty good. A friend had them on a Vette that was supercharged with 500+ at the rear wheels, and he drove it everywhere. If you have any power at all, the rain is not your friend anyway.

1.Its the car from the faculty, cept it has a 455 SD

A 455 is considered 7.5 litres, IIRC. A 454 Chevy is a 7.4. (my race truck was a factory 454 and still has the VECI decal that says 7.4L)

You're using a 455 SD? What is the # on the center exhaust ports of the heads?

I know quite a few auto-x guys that use those tires. But yea, they don't last long. Same goes for Kuhmos.

I used a formula, and got 7.4, and the sd had 7.4 badges , I know james who runs the SD Trivia page, says his original info from buing it has 7.4 all over, and his badges are 7.4, its a 73 trans am btw.

What badges? The hood shakers said SD 455. The other 455's just said 455, except the early 70's that said 455 HO.
I used to have a 75 TA and the underhood sticker said 7.5.
I'm almost positive that all the GM manufacturers that made 455's (Buick, Olds, Pontiac) designated them as 7.5 litres. Only Chevy used 7.4.
Whatever the actual litres were, manufacturers took some liberties with what they called them.
Example: Pontiac 301 was a 4.9, yet Ford calls their 302 a 5.0.....but they also make a 300 cid 6 cylinder they call a 4.9. Plus, Chevy calls their 305 a 5.0 and Olds calls their 307 a 5.0.
Ford also calls their 460 a 7.5, yet Buick/Olds/Pontiac call their 455's 7.5's, while Chevy calls their 454 a 7.4.
Whatever they think sounds better, I guess. I prefer the cubic inches.
