Help me find new headphones or parts.

I sat on my dt770pro they can't be fixed. So now I am using my old Sennheiser HD265 they sound great but the problem is the cable is busted needs replacing and the ear pads are worn. New ear pads on the bay are $58 + shipping new cable is over $30. Any place to find these cheaper.
I am also open to the possibility to buying new headphones they need to be closed and in the price range of my previous ones. I would love to get something cheaper if it sounds good. I remember couple years ago JVC had good headphones.

I bought a pair of Audio-Technica ATH-A900X last week from buydig for $165 shipped. They're closed type, super easy to drive (32 ohms), and very musical with very clear and wide sound stage. They can be found for around $200-$220 normally without sale.

I used to have a pair of its predecessor, the A900, before I gave it away. This new one actually feels lighter from my memory.

You can also look at getting some ATH-M50 headphones, they are closed, fold up, and tough as nails. They also sound pretty good. I build all of my own cables, including putting new cables on headphones so that is pretty easy for me.

I have some DT770 Pros, and also have the Beyerdynamic Custom One Pros. I find them more comfortable than the DT770 Pros, and they are a little cheaper than the DT770 Pros. I have also ATH-M50s, and the ear cups aren't quite deep enough, but they sound good. To be honest, I dont think either is appreciably better than my JVC HARX700 set, which can be purchased for $32. 😵 I wear the Beyerdynamics because I spend a lot on them, but if they break I'll happily go back to the JVCs.

How is the base on the JVC ? is there even a better model?

I bulid cables for my dt770 so that doesn't scare me. The problem is buy the proper cable and connectors and all that still costs money. I don't know where to get connectors for the senn they go into the ear cups. What cable did you use ? Japanese speaker cable or cat6 ?

The HARX900, which is around $60, but I dont think the sound is worth twice the cost. I have those as well. I know, I know, I went through a headphone phase. The bass is fine, but probably not like something like Beats. At worst, they would make a good backup set. I should mention that they are big, but that never bothered me because I only use headphones when at a desk.

I feel tempted by the JVC they would be cheaper than ear pads for the senn not to mention the cable. hm... So 900 vs 700 is there a quality difference or are they just different ?

Quality wise they are pretty much the same. The 900 is just the next model up. The bass is heavier on the 900, and maybe the 700 can be thought of as more balanced.

Is the cable straight on them? I hate coiled cables. I would also like to know if the cable is removable like on the senn which you can just unplug.

Ok will try to find the 900 locally since they can be moded and have leather ear pads. I also did a quick search and the dt770 are still good cans and they can be had for $170 so..

I'm doing a quick comparison at work since I have the RX700, M50, and Custom One Pro's here. I think I understated the difference between the Custom One Pro's and RX700, especially when the Custom One Pro's are fully open. The base is significantly more pronounced when opened. Half way open, the RX700s are in the same ballpark, but there is a noticeable difference. I usually close the Pros, because after awhile they give me a headache. I would put the RX700 in third based on just sound, but value wise its the best. I had to really listen to pick out the differences until I started adjusting the sliders.

If you want the most flexibility, look at the Custom One Pros. They are $155 or so on Amazon, have a detachable cord, and have sliders on the cans so you can go from flat to Beats style bass.

You usually have to drill the case out slightly to fit a connector into the sennheiser headphones. I use Mogami Mini Star Quad for all of my line level connectors/cables.
