I just upgraded my computer, i was rushing to sell the parts to recover a new video card. i forgot to backup some files i've been working on for months.

my old system was loaded with windows xp home. i upgraded to windows xp pro 64bit. files was saved the file on desktop(old harddrive). i bootup the 64bit system and try to find those files in documents and settings, but i got denied. "G:\Doumnets and settings\XXXXX is not accessible"

will i be able to reover those files if i boot it up with 32bit windows?

You missed the link on how to disable "simple file sharing", which, when disabled, will show the security tab. Here's the instructions. Follow them, then go back and look for the security tab:

How to turn off simple file sharing
To disable simple file sharing, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, and then click My Computer.

2. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options, and then click the View tab.

3. In the Advanced Settings section, clear the Use simple file sharing (Recommended) check box. In other words, make sure no checkmark appears in this box.

4. Click OK.

This photo shows what the View box will look like with the proper setting for disabling simple file sharing:

Of course, the other check boxes are optional as to how you want to configure them (Show Control Panel, Launch Folder Windows, etc.) The part you need to see is the blank checkbox for "Use Simple File Sharing". That's how your checkbox should look.

Once you've set it that way, you can then go back and see a Security tab in the Documents folder you can't access, and go through the process previously outlined.

Not at all. As a matter of fact, with simple file sharing OFF, you have much more control over files. I wouldn't go messing with the permissions, however.

So, you can turn it back on or leave it off. Up to you. Day to day usage...makes no real difference.
