My budget is 1500.

Most important is performance and build quality.
Portability is only so so important.
I hope to be able to play some modern games. I can push the budget to 2000 if needed.
 
I spent 3000 on a mabook pro 2.5 years ago and it is busted. Not sure if I want another Mac. Not User User repairable.

The XPS looks pretty decent, and they have some available in the outlet, both with i5 and i7 processors.

I've had my Dell 6000 for almost 7 years and it's still chugging along on the same battery, never a problem. I just upgraded it because I can justify replacing it... it still works just fine.
