It seems like todays music is just not doing it for me. The last "New" CD I bought was Rush "Vapor Trails". I've bought stuff since but it was old stuff to add to the collection. I'm looking for something that you can listen to alot and not get tired of it. Something that shows talent. Any ideas?

Rheostatics....you may have to listen to them a few times to get used to them but after that you'll love them!

I've listened to it but I'm not that impressed. Maybe I need to hear it more. I haven't enjoyed PJ that much lately. But I did hear Yellowledbetter for the first time a few months ago. Amazing.

Broon.....mucman , mucman......Broon!

Edit...I was thinking of Mucman today wondering where he has been.

And Joe Satriani will be in town on Dec 4. I'll be there.

My album of the moment is Digital Savior by Midnight Orchestra. It's... kind of stripped back goth rock. You know, like regular goth rock but not so pretensious. I can't get enough of that CD.

What kind of music do you like?

Try Iced Earth ... They have some pretty cool songs.

Download their 17 minute masterpiece, Dante's Inferno.

Get the Alive in Athens version. :)

My all time favorite is Rush. But I'll listen to almost anything. I don't like Manson which is who I'd associate with goth so that's probably out. But the DMB first two albums were "listen to over and over" albums. Lately I've been looking for less pop/rock like Nickleback and the like but something more musically advanced like DMB or Bela Flek or Rush.

I usually post my whole list of music, but I don't feel like digging it up, so I'll just say: Mogwai - Young Team, Modest Mouse - Lonesome Crowded West, Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Your Skinny Fist Like Antennaes to Heaven!!!

Hi broon, good to see you around!

Checkout Porcupine Tree. Right now they are touring England with Yes!

Official Website

Vapor Trails is definitely a good CD, and I would reccomend it to anyone... even if they aren't Rush fans.

Eli - Ice Earth rules :)

Satch is in Vancouver, and I believe his how is in a couple days... I saw him with Vai, and KW Shepherd a few years ago, definitely a must see!

It's nice to see someone that likes classical music, and also likes Iced Earth. :)

Can you play anything of theirs?

Actually, I haven't touched my electric in over a year! Iced Earth do have a few good songs that would translate well on the classical though... I will have to check that out
when I have more time to play.

btw, my workout mix inclues the following right now : Slayer, Iced Earth, Nevermore, and Soilwork :D

Thanks for all the suggestions. There are enough here to keep me busy for a while.

Mucman - I finally picked up the Chronicles DVD last week. I can't get enough even if it doesn't have enough of the really good songs on it. I love the two studio videos for Tom Sawyer and Limelight. Watching Neil play is awesome.

Sweet! I got it on VHS, as well as The Camera Eye, Exit Stage Left, and A Show of Fans. Haven't watched them in ages though. Need a VCR so I can rip em into divx so I can watch em on the 'puter.

Iced Earth is metal, but engineered well so it doesn't sound like noise...

Go here, I have some samples

Cool site. If you're going to look at some samples on that site, I recomend you look at Something Wicked This Way Comes..

Days of Purgatory is good too.. It has a lot of their older stuff on it.

I really like their latest album, Horror Show .. It's a concept album.. The songs are great.. Especially Wolf, Dracula, The Phantom Opera Ghost.. and others..

I only have an electric guitar, so I don't really have a choice in what to play. ;) lol.. I can play some Iced Earth.. I actually haven't picked my guitar up in over a month. :( No motivation...

I can play up to like 6 minutes in Dante's Inferno.. can play The Comming Curse... and Stormrider... Dracula.. The Phantom Opera Ghost.. Transylvania(Iron Maiden cover).. prolly some more.

I looked at their (Ice Earth) web site and they have some clips of songs. Reminds me of Dream Theater.
