Help me find a job

I was hoping the famous Anandtech OT forum could solve one of my big problems. I'm jobless. So at the risk of facing much ridicule and perhaps many sarcastic comments, i'm going to give it a shot. I need to get a job, the time is long past due. The key is getting a job i like, which is going to be very hard to find. I already looked on Hotjobs and couldn't find anything. I don't care how much the job pays, as long as i like it, i'll be happy. No fast food places. I very much prefer little human contact. Leaning toward a part time job, wouldn't totally dismiss a full-time job though. No idea what kind of job i want really, maybe something with computers, but i spend enough time on the computer as it is.

Here's what makes things a little tricky...I have no experience at all, and no education whatsoever. No interest in going back to school.

Can my fellow anandtech folk give me any ideas?

Welcome to the job search world...

1. craigslist.com -> choose your area -> jobs
2. simplyhired.com
3. local newspaper (website or paper)
3. local reader (usually paper)

and most importantly, ask everyone you know to as everyone they know, etc. connection is suppose to be the BEST way to locate a great job. Good luck! Hope we both find jobs soon!

You sound lazy. That makes it hard to suggest a job.

Lineman apprentice or conductor trainee (full time)

Back to school for a short time: A&P mechanic

Have you ever toyed with the idea of becoming not lazy? Seriously, how do you survive with no job or education to get a job?

Daddy and Mommy, perhaps? Sometimes parents ruin kids, beyond repair. ;)

Now we're talking!

I already inquired about a job since i made this thread, so i guess that sort of counts as progress. Kinda hard looking for jobs online, they are horrible at explaining the jobs they are offering positions for, most of the time i never have any idea what the hell the job ad is about.

bump

I'm still not even close to having a job. Any other suggestions? (besides going back to school).

How can you be 20 years old without any previous job experience? WTF have you been doing? How do you pay for things?

Anyways, I would get a catering job. Most of them pay nicely ($15/hr) and the work is easy. Find them in you phone book. When you call them, ask if you can be added to their on call list.

you sound pretty pathetic. why don't you go out and learn some skills. you're looking at 45 years of crappy dead end jobs otherwise. go to school somewhere.

Catering isn't a bad suggestion, not for me though. I hate driving anywhere.

Temp agencies hmm, that might be ok. Anyone have experience with temp agencies?

you have no education and no experience, and you don't want fast food, no catering, and you don't want to drive to anywhere...

you're just making excuses so you don't have to work.
