Help me find a job!

To plagarize, "I've always relied on the kindness of strangers".

I'm a recent graduate from Illinois State University with a BA in . . . Philosophy. What's a boy like me supposed to find a job with a degree in Phi? I'm multilingual, Korean, Japanese, and English; I'm more than willing to relocate/travel (the further away from the midwest, or even the US, the better); I have references; I'm familiar with graphic design suites (Macromedia and Adobe products, mostly) and I'm more than willing to do some entry-level pencil-pushing work . . ..

Any help? 🙁

Anything you want, dude. My boss at work is a poli sci graduate and he's one of the best developers I've ever had the pleasure of working with. What do you want to do?

I am pretty sure you could find a job on the west coast fairly easily with the language skills you have, or any place that has a large Japanese or Korean imigrant population.

Regret that you didn't start attending job fairs and sending out resumes a year before you graduated.

As far as what I want to do . . . any entry-level office-job will do, honestly. I don't define myself by my job, so I'm not very picky. 🙂

Well, let me add a qualifier to that - I've worked a bunch of part-time jobs, like the one I'm doing here - but I'm more or less "curious" as to what a "job"-job is like, so to speak. Hopefully, I'd be happy with what I do, but I won't know until I have the job, y'know?

Law school, or hell find a university that has a pre-med post bac program and go that route. They say philosphy majors score amongst the highest on the MCAT.

See, that's a very good advice - one I'm not opposed to taking, albeit further down the road. I'm being honest here - but the thing is, first and foremost, I want to get rid of this monkey on my back called "debt".

Hell, I AM studying for the GRE and LSAT, but I would prefer to have a job, for at least a few years, so I know what both sides (working vs. academia) are like, y'know?

same boat as you man. i'm a math major and studying for the actuarial exams next year. but for now i've been looking at entry level office jobs, like data entry or office technician/assistant positions. the pay isn't bad for starting out.

I'm sorry you really should've picked a diff. major or at least double majored in something else. Singlnig out with Philosophy alone is a bad mistake.. You remind me of my best friend who graduated from BU with psych major. He only obtained bachelor's. He worked as a preschool teacher getting paid pennies and now he just quit that job and is entering real-estate. 🙁
