Hi,

I have a Dell Inspiron notebook e1405 which supports the newer mini pci-e type of cards.

I wanted to upgrade the origianl Dell part to a super fast Atheros chip (108mbps)

IBM Thinkpad's (LENOVO) use these cards. I ordered one through Ebay and I got it today.

After I installed the card, windows recognizes it, but I cannot find the right driver.

Gigabyte sells a card based on the same Athero's chipset so I tried their driver and that didn't work.

I tried to downloading the driver from Lenovo (IBM)

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-52527

But this didn't work either.

Here is the information printed on the card itself:

Atheros AR5BXB6
Ambit Microsystems (Shanghai) Ltd.

CMII ID: 2005AJ1346

N14608

Z546 IC: 4104A-AR5BXB6

EC N0: A41598 FRU PN 39T5578

Made in china 11s39t5569z1zbdu5bx9du

t60h921.05 LF
B200005553-01

Please help me find a driver for this device!

Dont know if this will help or not.

You might also be out of luck trying a Lenovo card on a Dell. I know Dell has proprietary hardware on their laptops and generic drivers never work. For instance, if you have an ATI video card, you cannot use the Catalyst drivers with their laptops. You must use the drivers written by Dell.

The same might be true for Lenovo, not sure though.

Cool. Thanks a lot for that link.

I browsed through the linked URL and there is no support for the latest products.

I will try them anyway and see what happens.

Thanks again!

Dell will have a wireless option for that chipset, just find it and download it, It will be one of their "Dell Truemobile XXXX" type things.

I've never had trouble with drivers on my dell laptop, I installed the cat drivers, and I use the normal Intel Proset wireless for mine, with no issue at all.
